About Ford





"Ford Amerson is a rising young artist and violist from Greenville, NC. Accomplished
as both a classical and contemporary performer, he has been performing
since the age of four and is quickly becoming a notable violist of his generation. He has performed throughout the USA in New York, Florida, Texas, Vermont, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, and
Virginia. He has played a countless number of concerts, weddings, and other events with repertoire ranging from classical to modern-day hits. He has also appeared in concert with Emmy-Winning violinist, Damien Escobar, and more recently performed with violinist, Bella Hristova, flutist, Carol Wincenc and pianists, Vadym Kholodenko, Ted Rosenthal, and Anna Polonsky. He has performed in masterclasses and worked with esteemed artists including Yura Lee, Paul Neubauer, Daniel Phillips, Hsin-Yun Huang, Maria Lambros, and Gilles Vonsattel.

Ford has plenty of experience in the orchestral field. He recently made his Carnegie Hall debut with the New York String Orchestra under the baton of Jamie Laredo, as part of the 2025 New York String Orchestra Seminar. In 2024, he was named an orchestral fellow for the Immanuel and Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival at The University of Houston. He was provided the opportunity to perform under the baton of Hans Graf and Carl St. Clair as an Assistant and Associate Principal Viola. He was also a member of the North Carolina All-State Orchestra in 2020 and 2021 and principal violist of the Eastern Regional Symphony of North Carolina in 2023. He currently plays with various professional orchestras across eastern North Carolina.

In addition, he has quickly become a passionate chamber musician. Early in 2025, he became a founding member and violist of the Stratus String Quartet, which resides at the ECU School of Music. The quartet performs music from multiple genres and reaches audiences around eastern North Carolina and beyond. Recently, he won the Texas Music Festival Chamber Competition, which granted him the opportunity to perform an entire sextet with the faculty. He is actively involved with the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival, allowing him the opportunity to perform for and learn from world-class musicians. Ford was also a fellow at the 2025 Yellow Barn Young Artists Program in Putney, Vermont. He joined 35 of the world’s finest young musicians for this prestigious program.

Ford has also worked with members of the Dover, Parker, Jupiter, Orion, Borromeo, Cooperstown, Mendelssohn, Formosa, and Terra String Quartets.

Ford is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance and
a Bachelor's degree in Economics at East Carolina University. He studies
with Ara Gregorian and Hye-Jin Kim. He also serves as the principal
violist of the ECU Symphony Orchestra. His passion is to perform for people and make a difference in their lives."

Outside of music, Ford enjoys playing golf, being active, and trying new restaurants. His favorite composers include Dvorak, Shostakovich, and Brahms.
